Anthem for my alcoholism

These lyrics sum it up pretty well in describing my life before recovery, I thought some of you might relate from what you've experienced with your A's. Interesting that this song was written in 1980. I was 16, had my first restaurant job, and became a daily drinker for the next 25 years.

Artist: Firefall
Title: Headed For A Fall

Runnin' from the feelin'
Can't disguise
Finding all your reasons

Were alibis
You can say your breezin'
It's not that way at all...

You're headed for a fall

Lookin' for excuses
To hide your shame
But all your little loose ends
Don't change a thing
You're the one who loses
By runnin' from it all
Backs against the wall
You're headed for a fall
For a fall

Staring out your window
At the pouring rain
Trying to hide your sorrow
In your sweet champagne
You can't lose your troubles
In the bubbles of your wine
Only makes them easier to find
Easier to find

All your wasted chances
How do they feel
All your sweet romances
Were you never real

Cause you're the one who dances
Got to pay the pipers call
Backs against the wall

You're headed for a fall
You're headed for a fall
You're headed for a fall

For a fall
You're headed for a fall
You're headed for a fall
You're falling, I see you falling

For a fall
Your'e falling, I see you falling
Your'e headed for a fall...

Astro you astound me as always! I can relate yes sad, but true!

But let's look at you now.....I have some new lyrics as you are moving forward Astro!
Remember that 80's show:

"The Greatest American Hero"

Look at what’s happened to me,
I can’t believe it myself.
Suddenly I’m up on top of the world,
It should’ve been somebody else.

Believe it or not, I’m walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it’s just me.

It’s like a light of a new day,
It came from out of the blue.
Breaking me out of the spell I was in,
Making all of my wishes come true.

Believe it or not, I’m walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
Who could it be? Believe it or not it’s just me.

Thank you for being you Astro!

Written for a friend that eventually died from addiction

If you twist and turn away
If you tear yourself in two again
If I could, yes I would
If I could, I would
Let it go
Surrender
Dislocate

If I could throw this
Lifeless lifeline to the wind
Leave this heart of clay
See you walk, walk away
Into the night
And through the rain
Into the half-light
And through the flame

If I could through myself
Set your spirit free
I'd lead your heart away
See you break, break away
Into the light
And to the day

To let it go
And so to fade away
To let it go
And so fade away

I'm wide awake
I'm wide awake
Wide awake
I'm not sleeping
Oh, no, no, no

If you should ask then maybe they'd
Tell you what I would say
True colors fly in blue and black
Bruised silken sky and burning flag
Colors crash, collide in blood shot eyes

If I could, you know I would
If I could, I would
Let it go...

This desperation
Dislocation
Separation
Condemnation
Revelation
In temptation
Isolation
Desolation
Let it go

And so fade away
To let it go
And so fade away
To let it go
And so to fade away

I'm wide awake
I'm wide awake
Wide awake
I'm not sleeping

Rella, you're so thoughtful, I can't believe you remembered the song from that show!

Steve- Thank you for sharing. Haunting, and so true.

Cunning and powerful. Some never realize what was lost, but more importantly, what is FOUND!!!!!

Thanks for helping me realize Astro, that he has lost far more than I.

Peace
