Observation-Alcoholic parents single or not, children notice
Just an observation from captain obvious but am seeing the effects of a alcoholic single mom trying to partially make up to their adult children by forcing themselves into their adult children's lives. Several kids, one a juvenile delinquent, another suicidal/issues and another moved far far away. She crashed one child's wedding. The mom still drinks but now wants to 'help' her adult children yet spent most of their childhood with their alcoholic boyfriend and the children knew it. She's also looking for excuses not to work. If nothing else her kids have become independent learning to live with minimal help from mom who had primary custody at one point. She is now preaching-literally sometimes about forgiveness. I find it disingenuous especially since they are still drinking among other things.
Point being parents have to realize their children pickup on what's going on and if a mom leaves them alone or sticks them with a sitter to be with their alcoholic boyfriend they know. They know it's not for work. There will be consequences to be paid no matter how much religion one gets. And children should realize they are not alone and an alcoholic parent is not a unique situation.
