Question-"fake it till you make it".

Okay, I've been thinking about this phrase since last night. The one I've heard said alot and even particpated in. "Fake it till you make it". I get the concept and all and as I said, I've even practiced it myself.
But I got to thinking and I'm really questioning this as an act now. I mean, isn't it a form of denial? An escape from reality? Isn't it almost a lie without words? And then there are those of us that quote that line about "Actions speak louder than words", well, wouldn't our faking it give out a wrong impression as well?
I'm truly not trying to get a debate going on this subject. I guess I'm just wanting someone to explain it to me. Because in hindsite, when I used that line in action, I think that it reaped both positive results and negative results. So I'm just not convinced it's truly a good thing.
Your thoughts???

I have to agree StandingStrong. I feel the exact same way. I just keep trying to convince myself that it seems to work. I'm not always very good at it and slip but we'll see what happens.

Fake it til you make it is also translated into:

"Act the way you want to be
and soon you will become the way you act"

Smile more...you may get a smile back
Drag your butt to a meeting when you dont want to, you will feel better
Do something kind when you dont wanna, you will feel helpful
Take a sponsors suggestion, you might get something out of it
Share a problem yore having, you migt get relief

Fake all the GOOD things you want for yourself...and gues what...good feelings will come.

practice makes perfect (well not perfect) but you get the idea. old habits die hard but if we keep practicing the new behaviors they will feel comfortable & right eventually! FOB was right on the mark!

Not denial, reality. When you start a new diet, for example, you change your lifestyle. It's new and you really aren't great at it but you continue to practice your concepts until the weight comes off. Denial would be that you would hang out with the weight loss crowd but eat the same way as you always did and expecting the waif look as your outcome.

Recognize, Plan, Execute, Achieve.
