I have been clean from pain killers
Since April 6th of this year,a s most of you may know.
But last night, there was a show on TV about some air plane
in France that blew up, oh the Concorde?
Anyway, I told my husband I have never heard of that airplane,
and he said "yes you do" I said " no I don't" and we went back and
forth.
They were telling about the planes, and saying it was the fastest passenger plane or something. I was thinking this plane was from years and years ago, before i was born..
Then my husband got upset with me and said that I need to go get hypnotised or something, and try to regain some of my memory.
This HAS been a HUGE problem for me. I can't remember things. Especially from years ago. I undersand that the years I spent using are a big blur to me, I remember some, but not much. My husband had just become accustomed I think to me not remembering things, but I think this little brain fart I had, made him really frustrated... He is sick of it.. Doesn't seem like much of a problem maybe considering the other huge problems I and some of you have, but I guess I can understand where it could become really frustrating for him, trying to talk to me, and i can't remember hardly anything.
How many of you suffer some great memory loss? Or to what degree?
I believe it's a symptom of PAWS, but will this one get better? Eddie, do you have any ideas? If you read here.
Thanks, Love Becky

I think memory comes back with time. I know that the longer I have stayed clean, the more my memory has returned. I once has 100 days clean and it was so much better than in the beginning. It would have improved even more than that if I had kept on the recovery road.
I know how frustrating it is while waiting for it to return but it does. It could also be a symptom of PAWS and may get worse durings times of high stress.

I remember things in bits and pieces... I wish I would continue to "forget" some of the stuff that comes to me. When you dull your brain with drugs/booze you just "skim" the surface of what's around you and a lot of it just doesn't come back. Don't worry because your beautiful clean and sober self will make up for not remembering a few (even) crucial details!!!!!

As I
spent much of my drinking career in short term in and out periods of blackouts...
I lost most of the 70's! The whole decade had little inprint on my brain.
I think I might remember a total of 1 year.
What I do not recall is simply nothing I worry about.
The Serenity Prayer comes into action here for me.
BTW...I have been sober 16+ years.
And I have no husband to notice either!
Interesting topic Becky...Thanks!
