Hi to all from Australia
Hi to all from Australia
Hello to all,
I have finally hit rock bottom and it has finally hit me that if I continue drinking , I am going to lose everything. My wife, my beautiful daughters and maybe even my life.My drunking has spiralled out of control to the point that I drink to blackout stage every time I drink. Its time to wake up to myself and stop kidding myself that I can drink responsibly. I can't , its as simple as that.
I look forward to participating in this forum. Good luck to all and see yous later.
Blowing off steam.
Greg.

Welcome
Greg....
Those blackouts are a sign of middle stage alcoholism.
This info is from a factual 'handbook' on alcoholism...
'Under The Influence' by Dr. James Milam & K. Ketcham
can be ordered from Amazon. They also have
'Beyond The Influence' by Ketcham.
Best money I ever spent!
So glad you are here with us...

Hi, Ertaka. Big hugs. Warm welcome.
I've been sober over sixteen years, better lead with that. I joined AA at age 33. I'll be 50 next month.
I'm living on borrowed time. If I had kept drinking like I was, I'd be dead now. No doubt in my mind.
I couldn't and can't do it without Alcoholics Anonymous. I need to associate with people who have the same disease - an allergy of the body combined with an obsession of the mind - and the same cure - complete abstinence sustained by ongoing spiritual work.
Look up AA in the phone book, or online. Be persistent, it's there. Meanwhile, here's a few Slogans to help you now:
One day at a time.
Think, think, think.
Easy does it.
But for the grace of God.
(End of slogans)
AA's Tradition Three: The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
Get your body to a meeting, the mind will follow.
Remember, I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together.

Thanks heaps for the replies, I'm feeling positive and ready for the difficult time ahead. I know I can do this , as long as I accept the support that is offered to me.I need to give staying sober my highest priority and be aware of the many temptations to kid myself that I can just have a few drinks. That has always been my downfall. I have given up in the past ,for months at a time, only to deceive myself that I am cured, and can control myself. The only way I can control it, is not to have any, zip, zero, none at all.
Bye for now,
Ertaka.
