yea i am considering aa, but not sure where to look and when and where they meet. I am currently unemployed so i dont have any money. I am not sure if i can do this alone or not, last night was okay, took me a bit to fall asleep but i slept pretty good once i was out. I just dont know what to do, I want to quit but dont know if i have the will power too or not, I know i will be better off with out the booze, i drink been, none of the hard stuff.

It just seems that my life stinks and i think the alchohol is the problem. My luck is bad cant find work then my car broke down, not sure how i am going to pay for a new car but I have to have a car.

Sorry just spewing i guess, almost out of smokes, taking one bad habit at a time.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Welcome okietiger...in my own experience, there was no way I could get and stay sober on my own. AA/NA are my lifering in the sea of addiction. Check out this link...

If you call the local AA number listed in the phone book they may be able to arrange a ride for you to a meeting. That's kinda nice anyway because you don't have to walk in all by yourself and you can ask some questions on the way. Just a thought.

Welcome, okietiger!!!! Glad you found us. So happy you have decided to give a sober life a try. I can assure you that life is much better without the insanity that alcohol brings. As Tyler already suggested, you could give the AA number a call and see if someone could give you a ride. That's how I did it and it really helped take some of the akwardness out of the first meeting. The way I look at it, when I was drinking, I was willing to do anything I had to do to get my next drink. I would walk 5 miles in the blinding snow if I had to. I ought to apply the same willingness, if not more, to my efforts to get sober.

Keep posting!

Hugs--

Rob,

Welcome! Everyone here is wonderful and the advice is all good. :0)

One day at a time and don't do it alone. There are so many out there to help you. I was terrified to walk into my first meeting but SO very glad that I did. The more you talk about it, get to know yourself and learn to trust yourself, the easier it gets.

The first step in loving yourself is to take care of yourself and the first step in taking care of yourself is to stop drinking.

Keep comin' back! Jalyn

Ask as many questions as you need to ask!!! We are here to help. For me, by helping other people I actually help myself. It's great how that works!

Okie WELCOME!!!
This is a GREAT place to come. I have been clean since 2/21/04 and in the beginning I was in this room SOOOOOO such no matter waht time of day night morning evening. It helps you learn and get strong for all the RIGHT healthy reasons. Also get to a face to face meeting to.

Peace:-)
