2 weeks today!
2 weeks today!
I am so happy! It is amazing how quickly things fall into place when you stop picking up the drink!
I'm still taking it easy on myself, I have a tendency to try to do TOO much when I quit drinking. That never worked for me in the past, so I am doing my best to enjoy my sober time. For now, I am focusing on staying sober every day, that's my #1 priority. All of my grand plans around the house and at work will be realized in time, as long as I don't pick up a drink!
Thank you all so much for your support!!

Thanks everyone!
I've had a couple of false starts over the past year. I am thankful to have a wonderful addiction counselor, that has taught me alot about my disease, triggers, and most importantly, coping mechanisms.
I haven't gone to AA with this go-round at sobriety, but I did go for several months earlier in the year. I read the literature still, but I'm not sure if I am going to go back to meetings. I am keeping a close eye on myself, and if I feel any significant cravings, you better believe I'll go before I pick up!

Congratulations! Having followed your story, I know that you have worked hard for this...all the sweeter for your success.
You mention keeping a close eye on yourself...I am going to some AA meetings for support snf also using some methods of "keeping and eye on myself" from Rational Recovery.com Just some more info and tools that may be useful.
Have a great day!

Time4me,
What's rational recovery like? Did you sign up & pay the money? I was thinking about it, but I don't really know what you get with a membership. I'd appreciate the info.
Thanks in advance.

rational recovery
Hey Time, rational recovery is likely to cause a major issue on these boards but I visited today and am ready to prescribe to its ingenuity. First off, most likely, if you follow this method, you will never post to this board again, I can say that much. It mostly describes how AA contributes to the addiciton and furthers the problem as well as gives you a method to fight off the beast (drinking). It is clearly not for everyone, but since I am starkly opposed to AA, I am going to give it a try. Therefore, everyone probably will not hear from me much at this point. I have appreciated the support, but I am going to do this, I have to do it on my own. Thanks and good luck to everyone, and if you are interested, go to rationalrecovery.com, but just a word of warning, it will turn you off of AA forever, and many AA members will find it diffcult to accept or even insulting. I am really glad I found the site though, I think it will save my life. Goodbye!
