How many times ..
How many times ..
...have I tried to stop drinking? Probably about 100 times, maybe 5 serious attempts, all failed. I mean I did give up for a year..but I failed. I failed again, I failed better, I tried again and now I am writing because I want to share the fact, the life-changing fact, that I have not had a drink for some 900 days. I thought I would never stop. But I did. I have.
I was every kind of drinker you can imagine for three decades. So it was going to be hard. It was hard work, but the hard work felt good. It still feels good. I am sober, stone-cold sober, and enjoy every minute of a clean life.
Perservere. This is a wonderful forum full of wise people, I think I can safely say it has been instrumental in changing my life. Lots of people talk about accountability, I like this concept and I like the fact I can still come here to account for myself and my sobriety.
