Withdrawal symptons timeline experiences

Hi, I’m only now completing day 4, but struggling already in that I can’t see any end:

day 1, sickness, heaving, tremors, insomnia, sweating, nausea, no appetite
day 2, heaving, insomnia sweating, nausea no appetite.

day 3/4 I is when I think things start to improve. Sickness goes as does the nausea, but it’s now coming out of the other end (apologies if anyone is eating!)

has anyone experienced this before - was hoping to have got through most by now, where as it feels it’s getting worse with this new sympton

many thanks

Stick it out. It gets easier. If you have the *****, get some loperamide (immodium) Works great.

I had all those things, not every time, but common enough, Robbo.

Here are some other experiences.

Hi Robbo, I felt like I was going to die for a few days and really had a feeling of despair on some days. I know the days and especially the evenings drag on, but that starts to change in a few weeks. Bear with it for now. Try and occupy yourself to take your mind off how you’re feeling. All is OK.

Withdrawals get worse over time, not better, especially if you've been caught in the cycle of quitting then relapsing. It's called kindling. The good news is you never have to go through this. Get sober, stay sober, and never drink again.

Loose bowels for 6-9 days.
By day ten mostly good.

Sore lower abdomen for 21-26 days.

Yes, I believe the kindling thing must be true. The duration of my suffering has increased over time.

Glad to be about 36 days away from the beast. Remembering what it is like to feel normal.

No need to poison ourselves with the stuff. It’s not a natural thing to do.

Be well friend.

Definitely had all that Robbo. Your poor beleaguered GI tract doesn't know whether it's screwed, blued, tatoo'd or snakebit. Things will even out. Just don't drink my friend.

Treat yourself as sif you have the flu. Eat a slightly bland diet, keep drinking water and some gatorade (electrolytes). You'll feel better soon. Stick it out, you CAN do this!

Because of a phenomenem called kindling the more often you go through WD, the worse it'll be. Hang in there. You'll be fine in a few days.

The good news is that what you are experiencing is completely normal when alcoholics stop drinking and it's temporary. The bad news is that you will have to suffer for a few days before you feel better. Keep hydrated and try to eat something if you can. I lose my appetite when detoxing but can usually stomach a banana and Ramen noodles without vomiting. I try to have a bottle of Gatorade and an OTC pain-reliever for headaches around. Then I will find a show on Netflix to binge as I pass the time.
