Sponsorship in AA
Sponsorship in AA
Good morning all, looks like it's going to be a beautiful day here. I sure do love nice days now... I really can't believe that I used to hide from them on my couch all day long. It's sickening to think that I did that for years. The sun would get on my nerves. The birds chirping would blister my mind. So bizarre to think of now, as I absolutely love the beginning of each day now.
I've been doing zoom AA meetings for the past couple of months, and am going to meet a potential sponsor this evening. I'm going to her house to read The Doctor's Opinion in The Big Book of AA. It's an exciting day! For the past fifteen years, I've been in and out of the rooms of AA, always wondering what it would be like to finally get my crap together enough to get a sponsor, and work the steps. After my trip to the psych ward back in February, I quit drinking and started trying meetings. I picked a woman at random, and it turns out she's a retired psych nurse! How lucky am I to have chosen her. We've spoken on the phone for a couple of weeks and I think that this evening, I'm finally going to begin working on the steps. I cannot believe that I'm lucky enough to still be here on this Earth... I could've died a thousand + times from alcohol consumption and drunken choices.
Thank you all for being here to share the gift that is sobriety. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Getting thrown into a locked psych ward when I was a year sober in AA was the kick in the butt I needed to become willing to follow direction!
Doing the step work under the guidance of my sponsor is why I have long term sobriety a pretty good life today.
Great job WindPines !
