Okay. It's actually caused me to think about reducing my activity. Now I have to login to read where before I obviously didn't have to and would only login to comment on a thread.
Edit...I believe you're just the messenger but I don't think I would buy the “increase activity” if you were selling it or even take it from you if you were giving it away. Might just be the negative side in me.I can't control it but I'll figure out what works for me..
Thanks,

Well its definitely increased activity.
If you take me as a case study, I'm busier here now than I have been in several years.
As a alcoholic and addict who wants to help other people like me, that's a pretty good bottom line.
Change is a constant.
I hope you stick around, C0ntr0ls - but as you know we don't lock the doors here

Of course it is free. No one has to pay to log in, post or get support. I've been on this site since 2012 under a different name and have never paid a penny.
I think it's unfair and untrue to imply it isn't free and may give the wrong impression to new people who think they may have to pay something.

Edit... and thinking about this statement "but as you know we don't lock the doors here" This is incorrect in that now they are locked BUT you can have a key once you sign up for the site as before there was no door and anyone could come in without being a member.
I'm an unpaid volunteer.
I don't know anything about the business model, ad revenue, or the profit or loss status of SR. or its parent company.
My concern starts and ends with the folks who walk in the door.
well played
There is another side to your 'door locked' analogy tho.
Some people have told me (especially in the FF side) that they feel more secure now knowing that people have to go through that extra step to sign up.
There's no solution that satisfies everyone.
I still maintain the doors are not locked in the very real sense that you and anyone else here can at anytime, vote with their feet....
Speaking of which, I'm tapping out cos I can't fix whats bugging you, man.
Sorry.
Go easy

Yeah you do you, man.
I'd hate any newcomers to think that they've wondered into a con job or something though man.
Whatever you think about big corporations and capitalism, SR, to me, is about the members and staff and the miracle of changing lives.
If you want to complain about anything to the owners, you can always use the contact us link, I guess.
We're done here tho - lets go help some folks
