Most of us who come here care. When we see someone morph into a sober life because of the support received, it is a reward beyond compare. I hope that you not only get sober, but also feel the joy of sharing that gift.

You do, AI, and you know it. You had excellent news that you don’t have cirrhosis, and you really don’t want it as it’s game over. What brought this on?

Really disappointed as life is so great sober and so utterly predictable and dull when drink has you by the balls.

No surprise here, Al, you prepared us for it in your post this morning. I know with all my relapses I planned them in my head a little way before I had the first drink.

You don't sound happy so best get back on the horse and try again.

I'm sorry you slipped AI. But it's just a slip right now. It doesn't have to be a relapse. When you posted earlier you had decided to drink it appears. Think about next time. Is there something in person you could do if a crushing urge comes your way? We're here for you but sometimes there is nothing like talking to a real person who understands.

The ten replies you have received are by members totaling almost fifty years of SoberRecovery membership, with a total of about 150,000 posts. There's a whole lot of caring going on here!

There's an online AA meeting starting in about ten minutes (12:30 PM Pacific time, GMT -7h) at this link:

Sending my support, care and understanding your way too.

Addiction is unforgiving and needs daily maintenance to
keep it asleep. To drink again would only wake up the monster
and pick up right where it left off with its destruction.

Continue to pick new helpful suggestions to guide you
along your journey in recovery forever remaining teachable.

Hold onto your recovery lifelines like SR and others
so that you never have to go thru this process alone
or by yourself.

Sober Strong. Recovery Strong.

I’m glad you’re posting, I just responded to you in another thread. If you’re still drinking stop, get some water, get some rest and start over tomorrow.

I care.
I'm sorry you chose to drink but glad you posted.

I know what hell it is and wouldn't wish anyone to be on this particular journey. I've been quite a ways along on that journey and can tell you It really doesn't get any easier or better along Alcohol Road.

People do give a darn Al.

I came to the conclusion that I had to give a darn about myself. I really did not know how to do that. Self nurture, care about myself, deserving. And probably part reason why I drank. Full of fear and loathing.

It is so much better Al. You know that.

Hope you are doing ok. Hope you are sober.

You have a whole lot of people who give a darn, and I think you do too or you wouldn't have posted today Al.

I'm not sure what tipped you back into drinking but like I said in your other thread - you've been given a second chance with the liver news - it would be tragic for you to blow that second chance

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off tomorrow. Your liver gives a damn! We are rooting for you. Sobriety is worth a shot, why not give yourself a chance?
