18 months*********
Today I mark my 18 months since I started this journey. 547 days ago. Its been a journey full of self discovery, obtaining and reaching my goals: career/health and relationship wise. In January on holidays I purposely wanted to know if I could have a drink or 2. I did an experiment and it confirmed that I did not want to live like that again. It did not appeal to me and I consciously realised what alcohol is and does to you. I want sobriety more than an alcohol high.BTW,,,Do not recommend any experiments just being transparent what happened. So just a quick check in to say life is grand and can be beautiful and hassle free, calm and peaceful just as it was designed to be.Once you put the work into sobriety it pays you back big time.xxxx

Excellent work, Sydney! Your positivity will inspire many. I am two months behind.
Could I ask what the experiment was, please? I ask because when I first cut down on drinking, it was never my intention to quit 100%. I always assumed I could be a moderate drinker. However, the experience of others taught me this will never be the case. Sorry to detract from your 18 months success, just curious. Well done again!

Hodd. I was on holidays at 14 months sober and I decided to allow myself a from/to date to drink (consciously) and I did it and quit as I planned. NOT recommended. The short high is not worth it.Thanks Hodd!! 😊

Wow, that is interesting. I would be nervous of getting a taste for alcohol again and being back at day one level of cravings. From all accounts, quitting again is a lot harder. Good that your experiment worked out.

I guess we all experiment to a degree to see if we can have 1 or 2. I know I did many times before finally throwing in the towel for good and now 2 years later I know I never want nor need to take that experiment again!! ..
Well done on your 18 month journey xx
