Slipped back into the madness
Been through some hard times recently.
Couldn't stay strong. Drank last night. Today has been a struggle.
I dont know why why I do this to myself when I know I am so much happier sober...
Back to the drawing board!

How long were you clean.
It took about 6 months to a year before my brain began to develop coping pathways that got me through the craves without terrible uncomfortable feelings.
I have heard that if the addict is mixing meds with booze the treck out of insanity is worse.
Hitting the gym and also feasting when I craved were my moves.
Thanks.

How often do you read posts from others that
have returned to the drink and report back how
sorry they did? Or why they took that drink?
Listening to others who go back out constantly
and continuously reminds me that picking up a
drink for any and all reasons doesn't and never
will work or solve lifes problems.
If im upset about some person, place or thing I
have learned that taking a drink of poison will
not make me less upset or angry with them.
If some person, place or thing doesn't go my way,
I have learned that taking a drink wont make it,
them, they go any better.
What are the many reasons why people go back
out to drink thinking their problems will disappear
or be resolved instantly?
People, places and things in life aren't going
anywhere's soon. How are we gonna deal with
them? Drink over them? Will that solve anything?
It's crazy. Even crazier when we had fuel like alcohol
to lifes problems hoping when we wake up they will
automatically disappear. Right?
Get rid of the alcohol and replace it with new tools
and knowledge learning how to resolve lifes problems
with better results.
Listen, learn, absorb and apply.

So you chose to drink to solve the stress. We get it - but be careful of couching it as a "slip." I personally think that often keeps the door ajar for drinking as an option to deal.
That said - this doesn't have to be a return to your alcoholic life - what's on that drawing board you mention??

Hey, you are back and on your sober road NAS. You are here on SR so you are serious about it. I'm sorry you drank but you certainly don't have to keep doing that. We don't drink anymore. What is your plan for when the urges or triggers come again, because they never stop coming. It is merely real life. What is your plan for swimming in that stream and not drinking when things get a bit rough?
