New here working on 5 months sober
Hi everyone, found this site and have been reading some of the posts and finding it encouraging
into my 5th month of being sober, and been dealing with an all day urge today, but just can’t go back to drinking....feel like I will go crazy without a drink but it is such a lie.
Trying to remind myself of all the pain and suffering with drinking
knowing your not alone in the struggle is helpful and glad I ran across this site

Hello and welcome, you've found a great place for support from people who understand.
Five months is awesome.
The urge will pass. I like what you're doing by thinking how much pain and suffering alcohol brought you.
And that's what you have to look forward to if you drink. Believe me, I've been there five hundred times.
Great to have you here, and remember, you never have to drink again.

Hi, I was 5 months sober too when I found this site and like you, I was really struggling with strong cravings. I started posting every day on the 24 hour thread and have now been sober for three years. Cravings are no longer an issue and life is so much better, in every single way. I still check in here everyday because life is far too good to waste one moment drunk and this place is where I come to focus on my recovery. Congratulations on your sober time - stick with it, you'll get loads of support here.
Welcome Wmcclintock - congrats on your 5 months! We know how hard you worked to get there.
I agree that not feeling alone anymore is a very comforting. I had no one in my life to discuss my drinking issues with. Most of them suggested I just "have one or two once in a while". Um, no...it doesn't work that way. Here, we all understand and support each other. We're glad you found us.

Get through the day any way you can, post here when you get cravings. It gets easier, for me closer to the six month mark. I just wrote a bit about it on peaceful 2's thread. I think it's the AV having a temper tantrum as it becomes clear sobriety is actually happening here, for real.
Well done on your time, hold on, it'll get better
