They will probably give you medication for anxiety and physical discomfort, and put a line in your arm for good stuff. Not sure what, vitamins maybe. It's much smoother than cold turkey, nothing to worry about.

Suppose is depends on the place? I went to a detox/rehab facility and it was the best thing I did. No IV or anything. Valium every 4 hours, along with B vitamins and whatever other prescription you may already take.
My daily routine was to wake up and go to the common room and wait on breakfast, watch the news and chat with other folks there. After breakfast there was a group therapy session. Short break and maybe another one. Participation in these were optional since I voluntarily admitted myself. Lunch. More group stuff in the afternoon, might have a guest come speak, from AA for example. Dinner. Read the AA big book for a half hour with the group. Then we watched tv or movies until enforced bed time at 11pm.
Some people laid in bed all day. Most of us hung in the common room and talked.

Great decision. You won't regret it. The hardest part of going to detox is making the decision and showing up. After that, it's a piece of cake. You'll be detoxing in a safe place and will meet many nice people. I hope you decide to go to as many meetings as possible. They were a great benefit to me. John
