Family weekend
I’m going to family weekend this weekend at my partner’s rehab. What can I expect? I know that day one is just family. After that, she gets a pass and we can spend 4 hours together. I’m excited! Day two and three include the addicts in treatment with family. She is dual diagnosis, so I just wanted to add that in case that changes things a bit.
Family experiences can vary from one treatment place to another. My experience is that there is some education, some group therapy type interaction and a chance for some one on one time. If the weekend includes several families, anything can happen, but I have found all the interaction was helpful and enlightening to me. Maybe rest up before hand because it can be intense.
What I described has been the pattern in the both the dual diagnosis and normal treatment programs I have experience with my loved one. I have not, however, been part of one that was such a long one with a pass in the middle. It sounds really good.
Best wishes for a good experience.
