Today is the day
Today is the day
This is the day that I have decided to get sober. I have been drinking unhealthily for over 30 years and it is time for change. I am a weekend binge drinker but this sometimes spills into weekdays. Just wanted to say hi.
David - I'm so glad you see the warning signs & are taking action.
My inability to control my weekend drinking did spill over into the rest of the week. Because I did nothing about it, I ended up drinking every day. Then all day. It can never get better - we can't touch the stuff. Congratulations on your life saving choice you're making.

Welcome! My weekend binge drinking went on forever too, and soon included Fridays, and Thursday because of happy hour, then Monday night for Monday Night Football. Oh, and sometimes Tuesday.
Good move David, SR is a great place to hang for support and wise advice. It certainly helped me to get sober and is helping me stay sober too! The first few weeks can be challenging but if you struggle or just need some friendly advice then post here, there are always wonderful people around all to willing to support you. Best of luck and keep posting xx

Good call on getting healthy. I started with a six pack on weekends - yes 6 beers would last the whole weekend. Fast forward 20 years... 6-8 shots of Bourbon (cask strength) and at least 6 beers - every night. I'm not expert here but I think I'm on safe ground saying that today is the easiest it will ever be to quit.

Hi David. I want today to be my day as well! Same story as yours but I have started to really let alcohol spill into my week days as well. Pretty much every other day I am drunk. Then regret and guilt set in. I am so very sick of planning on tomorrow being "the day". I can never just have one. Good luck! I am glad I came back to this sight after so long. It is such a lonely road to try to take alone. Take care
Congrats David on a life changing move! You're gonna start feeling better, pooping better, and living life better once you clear that poison out of your body. My favorite saying is, "Today is the first day of the rest of your life". Make it count and take those chains of alcohol to the dump.
