I would definitely be seeing a doctor about that. Not saying it's serious - I've no idea - but 10 months is a long time to have that problem.

Hi - I’m in the UK too.

I wouldn’t accept being told I had to wait for 5 weeks at all. I would insist that they fit me in ASAP - that I was anxious and frightened at a physical condition that was perpetual and showed no signs of abating - and that I would sit in the surgery reception all day until the doctor had five minutes free or had a no show.

Say all that with urgency and conviction and you’ll be seen within 48 hours maximum.

I went 5 days maybe, and I drank a hell of a lot more than 10 pints. Some medications can cause this, but again, this is something to discuss with your Dr.

Yeah, see a dr. Congrats on your 10 months sober time, that’s excellent!

(Btw I’m in the US and we have to wait that and longer here, too, and pay for the privilege. I have really good insurance but just tonight opened my “balanced” bill for recent blood work performed in July, scheduled in April, covered by my insurance, still $105.)

Hi Whiskertron
I am standing outside the doctors at this moment trying to get a walk in appointment. Otherwise the booked appointments require a v long wait.
I will reply to your post a little later as I think it's relevant.
Detail or diarise your symptoms and duration so that you are fully appraised and ready for the dr and push for an earlier appointment.

Gah. I understand your frustration re doctors appointments. It really is a joke now. Most doctor surgeries do operate a triad (sp) system though. So they can give you a definite general appointment for in however many weeks, months or flippin years time, or if you phone first thing and say it's an emergency and can't wait til three weeks then they'll try and get you in that day. If they need to take samples or whatever it may be that an appointment with the nurse could get that ball rolling.

I really hate to be a nuisance at the surgery, but I'm coming to realise it's pretty much the only way to get seen with the current set-up. Last time I went it was because I had shingles. Man, I was poorly. Too poorly to want to do battle with docs receptionists but if course, I had to. Although I'm not blaming them. That's a job I wouldn't want to have to do.

Please do get a bit more insistent. YES it's urgent. NO it can't wait three weeks.

Hi Whiskertron

I have been suffering with diarrhea, fatigue night sweats and morning breath that feels like I am being gassed or drugged.

I was under the doctor when they identified my drinking as a problem. I drank lots and this was over a far greater amount of years than yourself.

The doctors passed me on to specialists and I have been undergoing a plethora of tests.
I am 7 months solidly sober and had 3 months prior to that with a small slip.

Doctors and test results are all very slow so I would push push and push again with the doctors for broad ranging tests. There are many things that can cause this and it is definitely something you need to get to the root of.

Things have become frustrating for me with 6 month from tests to review under specialist.
One thing that I am doing now is try some diet exclusions.

Taking out the usual subjects first.
I changed dairy for soy milk and had a dramatic change in the urgency of my outs so have stayed away from dairy for this reason. Works for me!

Problem not resolved by this alone so
I am now trying a gluten free whole food diet to see if I have a wheat problem. This will take about a month to be able to gauge.
I am not coeliac according to a basic blood test however I Could be sensitive as lots of people are. Plenty to read up on!
Coeliac test requires you to be eating gluten for approximately 6 weeks before test so no point excluding prior to a test.

Unfortunately the primary problem can be caused by anything from thyroid, food allergy/ intolerances through to gut issues. It's an absolute mine field.

Going to the Dr and getting some tests is the first and most important step.

Hope I have given you some food for thought.

I wish you fast results for only those that suffer can know quite how awkward this is!

Whiskerton, I am two and a half years sober and my stomach has gone through periods of this along my journey. At first, it was most definitely things like my body needing, struggling to maintain nutrient absorption as I was very sick. I considered the first year and a half or so early sobriety and my body still adjusting to almost everything.

Since then, I have certainly used doctor care. Right now, I am struggling with diarrhea and we think it is related to the combination of things like med changes, quitting some like sleep meds, sleep problems, low sodium....

I hope you can get a walk in or an appointment soon, as I get how frustrating and worrisome this can be.
