Big thanks to everyone here.
Big thanks to everyone here.
My last drink was on May 6th of this year. I understand that 6 weeks in is really short but I feel I have turned a huge corner in my recovery. I have drank my fair share of alcohol since my early teens. I am mid 60's now sometimes wonder how and why I am still here. What I am truly thankful for is that I have lost all want for alcohol. It was rough the first 4 weeks but i realized that my AV has all but gone away. I can drive by a "store" and not want to turn in. I turn off beer commercials on the Tv and radio when I can. I could not have done this without sharing with all of you my stories and reading about yours. We are truly in this fight all together. So here's to all of you who have commented or just said thanks.

Marcutah,
Heck fire, being an alcoholic and going even one day without a drink is a huge deal, and, wow, six weeks is a miracle. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll be back on here saying six months.

Congrats Marcutah on your six weeks sobriety! I love hearing success stories and yours is picking up steam like a well oiled machine. I'm 67 and like you, I wonder how I made it this long. I suppose the good Lord has a plan for folks like us.
