That moment. When I knew.
That moment. When I knew.
The title is about the exact moment I knew why I was abusing alcohol. I was not happy. Never was happy. I was working in finance. A great job with a massive bank. Full benefits, salary etc...hated every moment. I watched the movie 'Lost in Translation' with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. Got drunk and didn't show up for work for 3 days after. I felt for the characters. I also identified with Nic Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. What I mean is, who's life are we living? Why does it take a movie to shake me up?
I did a finance/legal admin job for 15 years. It was horrible. Not major bank, but enough to be very comfortable and buy a house in one of the most expensive markets in the country.
Corporate America, particularly entertainment and the financial service sectors, can be a soul-sucking place.
It wasn't a great job if you hated every minute. It paid very well. There's a huge difference.
