Hi Enigma. Welcome to SR. It can be tricky navigating at first. There are many forums. You are in the Newcomers forum.

Hi Enigma. It isn't unusual for depression to be uncovered when you quit drinking. For me, sobriety meant my antidepressants started working properly, though I still have a bit of anxiety to be aware of.

I was severely depressed before I started drinking but alcohol only made it worse.

After I'd been sober for a while I found that my depression wasn't near as bad and, like RWO, my antidepressants worked as they should.

I hope we can help you.

hi and welcome enigma - glad you've joined us

One of the things I self medicated for was depression. I think it's fairly common.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story.
