Thanks for adding me
Hey people
I joined here because
I am struggling with alcohol and i want to stop because i do stupid things when i drink but mainly because i have to drink and then i cant stop.
My father was an alcoholic and ive heard it runs in families and i dont want to go down the same road as him
Ive stopped a few times but then i start again. Im not even supposed to drink but its just something that happened and i need to stop.
Hoping the forums will help
Thanks
Katrina

Hi, and welcome.
We all understand the struggle and the inner conflict. That is the heart of addiction.
Stick around and read, maybe join in on this March Class for those who are quitting now. My class was a huge help for me, somewhere to call "home."
Just post and you're in!

Welcome to SR! It's an awesome place with lots of support and really cool people. My mom was (and still is an alcoholic) and that's one of my main reasons for stopping. I don't want to end up like her so I figure it's better to stop while I'm ahead so to speak.

hi katrina. my last drink was oct 2017. my head still goes for walks but found this book 'the unexpected joy of being sober' by Catherine grey. it will make you laugh, cry, and resonate with everything...beautiful book, cant recommend it enough! shut the blinds, lock the door, turn your ringer off and get totally lost in it. if you don't feel anything but happy and hopeful after reading....then ill gladly pay for your book!
