My divorce is final today
My divorce is final today
We've been separated 4 years. The deadline for the 6 month waiting period is today, so I am finally divorced.
I remember 3 years ago, this was unthinkable. I cant thank you all enough for your support.

Doing great, Maudcat, thanks for asking!!!
Yesterday felt a little strange. I was a little surprised that I felt anything after 4 years.
I have been rebuilding my life, with the help of my Higher Power.
Looking back over the past 4 years, my focus has shifted to myself from trying to "save" him. I can look back 5 years ago and remember being sick, depressed and drinking with him, while the whole world was collapsing around my neck. I lost a home, business and several cars. We struggled to pay bills, but money was ALWAYS there for alcohol and tobacco.
I haven't had a drink or smoke in 4 years. I have a good job, quiet home and a great church fellowship. What I value the MOST though, is contentment , peace of mind, and a relationship with God.

I was like you quite a few years ago
wondering if it would ever be possible
to exit my marriage of 25yrs. Always
wondering what to do, how to get the
process rolling.
With abundant prayers, incorporating
my recovery program and staying connected
to my SR lifeline, Faith and footwork, it
happened.
Today, my first marriage is behind me
taking those experiences to learn and
draw upon as I am living a happier, healthier,
marriage of almost 9 yrs this coming
Valentine's Day.
It is truly a gift from Above.
I hope you too will find peace, serenity,
hope in the near future as you continue
on your journey in life.

Eauchiche thanks for sharing this. Even if divorce is what we want, even if it is for the best, it’s still not easy when the final snip comes. Been there.
You are such a great inspiration for us all! A good job, a cozy home, and spiritual support are such amazing achievements! Best of all, you now have peace.
The day my divorce was finalized I went out and bought myself a really nice expensive new purse. That was ten years ago. Every time I take it out of my closet it reminds me of the strong independent woman I am becoming. Love and hugs from Sailorgirl57

eauchiche.....I think it is very common to feel a bit weird when the actual legal status changes. It brings it into the realm of absolute reality .....
It is the undeniable "turning the page" on a chapter of our lives.....
from my own personal experience, and what I have observed of others....if we have prepared ourselves for this event....the feelings only last from one to three days......!!

It's then end of a LONG cruise up that river in Egypt.
That cruise line left a lot to be desired. Next time I'll book on Holland America.
Yesterday was a little interesting.
My company requires us to delete ex's from the health insurance after the divorce is final. My ex knows this, and is going COBRA until age 65. Our insurance is incredible, and cheaper than anything outside the system.
Several years ago, I was obsessed with health coverage for my mate. Frankly, this is why we stayed married 4 years post separation.
Like many other things connected with my codependency, this obsession has now been removed.
Thanks again for all your support!

Isn't it crazy that the health insurance issue has become so huge that people STAY MARRIED and get married for health insurance reasons? What a tragedy, and certainly not what God intended.
I commend you for doing that, it had to be hard friend!
