Dry January...
Well I'm back....
To summerise - I was on here early last year. Running a bar and drinking out of control. I have a digestive illness so shouldn't drink at all to be honest. Anyway I was planning to move to Spain this year and use the move to become healthier. In the end I decided to move earlier and came to Spain in September last year.
Since then I had a weeks holiday, I got a job, bank account etc. Got my own lovely flat. But for the first 3 months I drank a lot! One day I was supposed to be in work at 9.30am - I slept in till 4.10pm!!! I was really lucky to keep my job.
Not that I'm making excuses but I do work in a bar again and live in a holiday resort. But I spent far too much money.
Anyway so loads of colleagues decided to do dry January. Only 2 people are about to complete it. I'm one of them. I've been arguing with myself abour carrying on and agreed to not drink for the rest of the year and then evaluate where I am.
However everyone at work has been commenting stuff like 'oooh you can drink on Thursday' etc etc. Not only that but My parents are coming to stay with me on Thursday and I'm taking a week off work - both are situations which would normally involve drinking.
Anyway I' struggling. I've never lasted this long before, and in my heart of hearts I really don't wang to drink.
Thanks for reading and any comments greatly appreciated

Why don’t you try to do a 90 day challenge? I feel that is what had me motivated and analyze what my end goal was. A year was even too intimidating to me but after I went a month now and was able to look without pressure on what I was really doing I realized I want this for real. This last month I have filed my brain with stories of people who were alcoholics, how happy people are to be free of the AV, and how people realize how much people really don’t care about of you drink or not even if they still want to and that you can still have fun without liquor.
I'm still doing Dry February 2017
At first, I didn't know what to expect. But once I got through the withdrawal-type feelings and figured out boredom and social situations, there was really no reason to go back.
It sounds like you know you should keep going — maybe just go for it?
