Don't know what to say or where to start
Hi and welcome Geoff - if you have any questions about the site, or about qutting just ask.
For me it's not so much how much we drank or how often but how it makes us feel when we do.
If you think it's a problem then it's a problem
My advice is to read around here a while, post as much as you like.
See what others are doing to stop drinking.
Visit daily or more than daily if you like
You'll find a lot of support here

Welcome Geoff.
As Dee says if you feel it's a problem for you then it is a problem and this is the place for you.
Have a read round, post and maybe join the January class where we are all quitting this month.
Great to have you onboard

The idea that a person with alcohol problems is some vagrant, swigging out of a brown paper bag and living in a trash can, is an outdated misunderstanding of what alcohol issues can be and how they can affect just about everyone.
If alcohol is getting in your way of leading the life that you want to lead then this is the place for you.

Welcome Geoff.
If alcohol is causing problems (of whatever size or nature) and it seems sensible to stop drinking AND YET it doesn't seem that simple, then it would seem this is very much the place for you.
Regardless of amounts, your drinking is obviously detrimental to your life and ambitions. Yet, presumably it's not as straightforward for you as just saying, "this stuff is doing me an injustice, I'm not drinking any more". If it were that simple you wouldn't (esp not being so confident with technology) have found yourself seeking this place out and then registering your profile.
Many of us found that we needed support to take steps to remove alcohol from the equation of our lives. Help to imagine what our lives and ourselves could be without alcohol. To see how to deal with the shift in socialising, relationships with others who continue to drink, and how to get the release and relief that we believe alcohol gives us ones it's removed.
There are solutions to every one of these dilemmas.
Alcohol doesn't need to continue tohold you back from your ambitions and dreams if you don't want it to. What we can achieve without its destructive influence in our lives is nothing short of amazing.
I'm so glad you found us, and wish you all the best for sobriety and a new life.
