Day 29
Hello all. Hope everyone is doing well. Day 29 in the books, and it was a rough 29 days I must say. The anxiety and depression still linger. It is nice however to awake each morning without the fear of a hangover. It is also nice to have a little more money in the bank account each week, and it is nice not to engage in that mental battle each night that goes something like this "just a few drinks". More like 6 or 7! Zero means zero. No wiggle room there. Going to speak with a substance abuse counselor this week. Realizing that I cannot do this alone. On to day 30. Thanks SR for the encouraging testimonies. It is great knowing that others have succeeded in long-term sobriety, and that there are joyful and hopeful days ahead without needing to drink. Have a great night.
Congratulations, gslat12!
Seeing an addiction counselor is an excellent move. Support made all the difference in my recovery. Like you, I couldn't get sober on my own.
I never regretted reaching out for help. In fact, it saved my life.
Hang in there, gslat. Give your mind and body some time to heal.
