Today!
Today!
Today marks the ninth anniversary of me finally, after a drinking history spanning over 30 years of me recognising and accepting that I suffer from alcoholism. Which as I understand it is the only disease/illness that will kill you, whilst at the same time telling you, you haven't got it....
The only respite from which is abstinence from alcohol, which compared to drinking it and the eventual consequences, as it's a progressive illness are insanity or death. Most who pursue this path preferring the latter comes first, is in comparison with the benefits. The most obvious being by way of health, spiritually, mentally and physically and financial (drinking your way into oblivion each day is and expensive business!)...
So my hanks and gratitude are extended to the first 100 who contributed to the content of the book,'Alcoholics Anonymous', the late Charlie Parmley and Joe McQuany, who in their 'Big Book Study Meeting' helped not just me but a lot of other people and all those others I've met along the way who by sharing their experience, strength and hope helped me to gain prolonged and (one day at a time, no room for complacency) sobriety
