Ready to end this?

Hi, I'm new in here.
Been struggling with my drinking habits for 5 years now.. I really need to get out, this destroy a lot for my wife and kid. They deserve so much better.
Happy to find this place, maybe now I can find the strength to get out.

It all starts with the decision to quit. Continues with acceptance that you can't drink, ever again. And in maintained with recovery program that helps you live and love the sober life.

Good luck.

John,

Now that you want to quit, half the problem is solved.

You are likely addicted physically at this point.

When you crave....eat. sweets help.

Hydrate.

When you start to...feel good...and think a drink would be nice....that is when the mental battle starts.

This lasts for a lifetime. It gets easier eventually.

It took me nearly a year to begin to understand what being clean and sober really feels like.

That is why folks relapse over and over.

Thanks.

Those craving will be back, be prepared to fight them off with everything you have. And it gets easier, it truly does.

All my best, Johnny. Taking the pups for a walk is a good pressure relief. Try anything that works; music, dumb TV shows, reading, praying/meditating, exercise. Whatever works.

If you can get through day 1, you can get through day 2 as well; with time it does get easier. I hope you make it. How much have you been drinking in a week?
