First Post

Hello all. First post here. I've been lurking here for some time. I've finally found the courage to post. I'm 32, been struggling for some time with alcohol, and I think I am finally ready to give it up. I'm writing this to try to keep myself accountable to it. Don't really have much of a plan yet, just taking it a day at a time. Just reading all the posts on here have been a great help and encouragement so far. I'm on day 2, which usually isn't that hard for me to get this far, I know it will be challenging this weekend, but I think I can get through it. Anyway, just wanted to say hello. Thanks

Hi, squirrel6! SR can help you stay sober, glad you're here. A good thing to do for new people is to post in the January thread every day as well as elsewhere, the monthly threads are full of newcomers like yourself.

Hello and welcome. Glad you decided to post.
I drank alcoholically since you were born so quitting at any stage is possible.
Two days is great, as well as taking it one day at a time. And remember, you never have to drink again.
Best to you.

It's very good to meet you, squirrel. I was able to stop a 30 year drinking habit thanks to the encouragement I found here. I'm glad you've made this decision - you'll be saving yourself so much misery.

Welcome, Squirrel6--

I'd LOVE to be 32 and in the process of quitting drinking.

Instead, I went welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll beyond that age(!)

Do it NOW, save yerself a couple of decades!

Thanks everyone for being so welcoming. So far so good this weekend. Saturday is probably the toughest day of the week for me, but I am pretty sure I can get through it. One thing I have noticed, I'm not very social with my wife at night, she keeps asking me if I am okay. I guess I feel pretty irritable at night too. Sleep doesn't seem real refreshing, and I am pretty tired today.
I can't really just take it easy even on the weekends. I have a day job and I raise livestock, not much for spare time. I am going to try to make a post a day and hopefully that will help me along.
