A year ago I quit alcohol
A year ago, on MLK day, I was hung over and my hands shook. I managed to get through the day, and then the next day dumped out the remaining 4 beers I had in the fridge. I have not had a drink since. At one point during this year I had a very hard day and almost bought a 12 pack of beer. There were times when I really wanted to drink. I know enough to understand that the AV is around, and can drag me down if I let it. In those first few weeks I stayed close to SR, and was so happy for the support and understanding here. To those in the early days, keep going. At one time I thought 30 days sober was an impossible goal. But I kept trying. If I can do it, you can. I won't bore you with how far down I fell from drinking. It was bad. But I am better. My toolkit includes one on one counseling, keeping a journal and a sober calendar, a gym membership, and of course SR. Thank you all. Knowing that SR is here, and supportive, means everything. On to year two!
