Been beaten by alcohol...
Hi folks.
I don't wish to bring sad news but my drinking streak is approaching a year of daily drinking. I've been lucky and blessed to have found a woman who understands all this, and most mornings wonders how I get up to energetic, just to be hit By the "hangover", sooner or later.
It's like cheating death. It works for a while but I actually feel like the need to stop. I don't want to drink. I want to live. Without withdrawal ********, because I don't exactly count that as living. I never desired this it's just I felt I had no choice left. As I am drunk right now writing this, I know you all understand, especially what needs to be done.
It's just I can't dispel this confusion so easily right now. Thank you for reading, SR.

Something has got to 'give'...let's hope it is not your body. Make a decision to quit and get help. It isn't easy but, it is the way to stay alive. I hope you realize that the choice is yours. Take control of your future. Don't give it to the 'booze beast'! It wants you dead.
Die hard Colts fan. Die hard football fan. I didn't even realize today was Sunday until I got on Facebook. Colts won 34-6. Early days of sobriety are a sonemabitch. I've been there. Threw 4 years of it away. I'm going through it again. Let's do this together. We are not alone

Yeah let's hope it's not the body that gives 'in' first.
Actually I did this before for two years. So it was 2 years of sobriety and I recall feeling pretty content. Much healthier.
I'm just sick of withdrawals... I did get off pot, and it took me 5 months. It was hell to be honest. Only thing worse I can image is benzos.

You aren't beaten Unix because you are here. Put the drink down and make a start in claiming your life back. Get out of the cylce, I completely agree with what FLCamper posted.
P.s if you are worried about withdrawals, a Dr can help you through that.

Thanks for the replies.
I have never been to in-patient detox ColdFusion whatnot. Always done a home detox. Which can be pretty dangerous... The risk of DT's is there obviously with this much drinking.
I think I need a doctor's opinion. BUT, I will not start taking meds that I do not like entering my body. I don'¨t want to contract another withdrawal just to mention. Had enough of thóse. Anyway thanks to all for replying....

You can turn this around UnixBer, there are stories within SR that prove that it can be done, and you can do it too!!
Withdrawals don't last for ever, we can get past them, and it's worth it.
Draw a line under alcohol, it seems to be doing you no favours, and take a little piece of happiness in this life for you, as we all and even you deserve it!!

PurpleKnight: Yeah, withdrawals don't last forever but who has the strength to go through them multiple times. I messed up. I drank. I have the toll to pay.
It IS doable yes, and possible. Just a sidenote from all my addiction research here and elsewhere: PAWS I could explain it today. It doesn't exist as much as many would want it to. So and this would be some good news.
I Know exactly what it is people talk about when they mention PAWS. My dream memory is also fairly developed, I don't know if it's due to withdrawals but sometimes when you're afraid to sleep and feel like you're going to die if you do... it's just the adrenal glands and hormones causing a great storm within.
We'll come back to this later, when I get fully sober. Thank you for the support.

Welcome back to SR.
You shared you had 2 yrs sobriety before.
How did you get sober? What did you do
each day you did not drink? Go to meetings?
Incorperate a program of recovery in all
areas of your life? Learn and be taught about
alcohol or drug addiction and how it affects
each of us as individuals and others around
us?
You had withdrawals the first time and
they left you in time and it was good. You
are back again and yes if you stop drinking
each day forward the withdrawals will
once again leave.
You've been here before and many of
us are still here and many of us are just
coming in so no one ever has to be alone
or go thru recovery by ourselves again.
We are here for you to help you
achieve what so many of us have
achieved successfully each day
of our lives we remain sober. Health,
happiness, honesty and many more
rewarding gifts in life to never take
for granted.
Blessings to be humbly grateful for.

Alcohol is saying it can't be done, addiction says why bother even trying . . . but many here say give it a go, take that leap of faith and see how far the Sober rabbit hole really goes!!

aasharon90: I joined SR and posted and this started my sobriety... There are lots of postings if you would wish to read through them. I used SR as my support, and it worked out the way that I had a few beers left on a friday afternoon... I just tossed them away.
