I'm an avid runner, love everything about it and been at it for many years. A week after I stopped drinking I put my back out - overdoing it- so I was forced to take a break. On top of that I was tired all the time and began loving my naps and full night sleeps. So I went Meh.. I'll take a break and get back at it in the new year. My plan is to start right after Christmas. I'll be starting from scratch again, I've done that before. And soon the gym will be packed full of new years resolution makers. Ah well, only a couple of months and the craze dies down leaving us die-hards to enjoy the space.
I ran four half marathons a few years back now. Always loved working out whether it was mountain biking, distance running, xc running, xc skiing, bikram yoga, aerobics classes...
I've had some movement in the right direction this year; getting sober was great for my dog, but I decided not to wait, but to ramp it up this weekend. So, I started the Couch to 5K program today. A little voice not unlike the AV entered my head and made fun of me - I did after all run 5K to warm up back in the day, and now I'm TRAINING for it? Why yes, yes I am.
It feels SO GOOD.

I'm training for these:
Sage Rat 10k in May
Seattle to Portland cycling, 206 beautiful miles, July
Grand Coulee 10k, September
Columbia Crossing, 10k, October.
I posted this in the Feb 2016 class thread, but I first did the Seattle to Portland 2 years ago and I was a bloated full blown alcoholic at the time. I have no idea how I managed to train for it. When I was out there riding it would flash into my mind, "no one here knows it, but I'm a complete alcoholic. I shouldn't be able to do this."

It's getting confusing for me.
