TOPIC: Calling All Louisiana SR Friends

Hello SR Friends and all those in Louisiana.

I just wanted to touch base with you guys
and see how you are doing after that historic
flooding we had in our state?

I pray that all of you are well and hopefully
were not affected by this devastation.

When we get out to shop for groceries,
we cant help but see so many folks affected
by this storm that hovered over us 2 weeks
ago dumping so much rain flooding residents
and businesses.

We were high enough to where the rising
water did not affect us or cause flooding to
our home. How about you guys?

I know its not just Louisiana that gets
affected by natural weather, storms
or elements that can take away all that
we work so hard to build and achieve.

Please feel free to share or check in
with me and others here in SR and let
us know you are okay.

Remember, we are all in the same boat
with our addiction and recovery at all
stages and no one has to ever go thru
anything in life alone or by themselves.

I pray for all those affected and pray
our SR members are safe and sound as
the recovery efforts are in place now
helping and supporting those who are
working to rebuild or relocate.

Sharon, I've been wondering about you. It is a testimony to your kindness that you're thinking of others in your area. I'm glad you're OK.

Best wishes to you and to all of those in Louisiana whose lives are hurting because of this terrible disaster.

I was thinking about you Sharon - I'm a couple hours away and have friends effected by the floods. Hard to grasp the breadth of devastation. Flooding has it's own particular cruelties with most uninsured for starters..........awful.

Hi my SR FRIENDS....!!!!!!

So good to read the kindness, care, concern,
prayers from each of you. This SR Recovery
connection I have with each of you is truly
a blessing and gift in my life, recovery and
sobriety.

We just came back from going to a new
store, Rousses, that we had never heard
of before to check it out. We went yesterday
and once again today just to walk around
a tad more. There was one in another area
town and found out that it was totally
flooded. So many of those folks are happy
to have a new one here in Baton Rouge.

As we travel the roads, we see dump
trucks trailing each other to go to those
areas and pick up many items destroyed
by the waters. Again, so many folks from
out of town have arrived to help rebuild
and help wherever needed. A community
coming together for many purposes, just
as it is for us in recovery helping , teaching,
paving the road of recovery to achieve
lifes wonderful gifts to treasure a lifetime.

You guys have been here for me for
a good while now and I hope and pray
that I can remain here for you as well
continuing to share my own ESH -
experiences, strengths and hopes
with whatever life throws our way.

God Bless YOU ALL, my SR friends
far and near.

Sharon, you are the best! I've been wondering how you were doing as we were watching the stories on the news of the terrible flooding. I'm glad you and your husband were not affected personally, but I'm sure it's terrible to see all the damage and loss.

Good to see other Louisiana people here! I'm glad you weren't affected by it. I moved to Nashville a couple years ago but all my family is still down there. They're a bit further north so weren't really affected. It's so heartbreaking hearing about all the people who are devastated because their homes are destroyed and they lost everything. So sad.

It is cool to know that there are other
Louisiana members here traveling on
the same road of recovery and am glad
to meet you CajunPrincess.

I got the Princess tattooed on my arm
because it is what my husband calls me
from time to time.

I suppose we do have a few Louisiana
Princesses and Prince's here in SR.

I had moved to Houston for 10 yrs
with my then little family back in '96
and for me I was soooooo miserable,
lonely, discontent, restless away from
my hometown and could and would
never call Tx my home because it wasn't
were my heart was.

I was about 7 yrs sober at the time of
the move and continued on my recovery
journey until my HP granted me a reprieve
and a ticket to move back home here
to Baton Rouge.

Ive been sooooo happy, content,
remarried, and most of all still sober
with all the changes that have I have
gone thru during my 26 yrs sobriety.

I guess my Laouisiana roots were deep
into the ground and in my heart that
no other place on this Earth would make
me happier than here.

I love our culture here and of course
our accent. lol You can take the Princess
out of Louisiana but you cant take
Louisiana out of the Princess.

I see that you are new in recovery
at a young age and a whole sober
life ahead of you with so many awesome
rewards gifts to enjoy as you continue
your own journey one day at a time.

If you ever find yourself missing your
hometown here in Louisiana, never
hesitate to message me or other
Louisiana SR members and we will
make you feel right at home, okay?

Your right Chris with those in California
and those wildfires. So many, where ever
they are in this world maybe dealing with
a lot on their plates right now.

Folks that are displaced and having to
call upon family and friends for help. Many
who don't have no one to turn too.
Many with so much on their minds
just not knowing what to do, where to
go, who to turn to. Folks with all their
life built on one foundation and in an
instant, its gone. Washed, burned or
blown away.

I know many of us will never truly
understand devistation unless they
have gone thru it themselves. However,
even with addiction, all can be lost as
well in an instant.

It takes us to reach out in anyway,
whether it be big or small, with
experience, strength, hope or prayers
to either quietly or physically help
those in need or struggling.

Im so glad that we have this AWESOME
SR site to share what ever situation in
life or health we may be in and ask for
strength, help or maybe just lending
and ear so no one ever has to go thru
these struggles alone or by ourselves.

Again, then you Chris and my SR family
for poping in to read about us down here
in Louisiana and feel free to share whatever
is happening wherever you are living so
we can join in with our own love and
compassion to send your way.

Keeping everyone in our thoughts,
minds, prayers each day.
