Hi All,

I did a search and couldn't find this mentioned in any threads on SR, so it seems like a new article ...

I was nodding so much as I read this part of the article ...

Going against the grain in an alcoholic family could make someone a hot target. If one person tries to speak the truth about an alcoholic and put up boundaries, that person quickly can become the black sheep. Family members often will air out the truth-teller’s dirty laundry; whatever positive standing they might have within the family could be knocked down. Rumors and negativity may even spread beyond the family group." ... "It takes courage to stand up to an entire family"

Me too.

When advising a family enabler not to buy the alkie/addict a car I was eventually told I have it out for the alkie/addict.(still don't know wether that's the enablers or alkie/addicts opinion) because the verbage is out of place for both. The alkie/addict continues on playing the victim and/or doing nothing wrong. It's always somebody else's fault.
