Claiming my seat

I'm so grateful that I found this forum; scared to start recovery, but more scared not to...

Hello and Welcome. I know how scary this is right now. But you CAN do this. Wishing you all the best on this journey.

Yes, that's a common feeling at the outset of recovery.

I'm glad you found us.

It was scary for all us. Reach out for help and only worry about today. If you stay sober today then today has been a good day

Soberlife - that's where I was when I found SR. My life was on hold & I was in a dangerous place. Being here, sharing with friends who care, made a huge difference. A great deal of my anxiety left me when I began to read what others had been through & the progress they had made. You will do this!

Glad you made it here. I know it is scary. I remember feeling like the ground had been swept from under me and there were no handrails.

Thing is, I found lifelines here, and in the fellowship of AA. It took me a while to start listening to any of them (being born knowing everything is a common alcoholic problem) but once I did start listening to others advice, and got a plan together and worked it, things started getting better.

This thread of Dee's is worth a good long read.... http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...y-plans-2.html

Please spend some time devising a plan, and then stick to it. Just focusing on 'not drinking' is just white-knuckling things. We need to take action if we are to find a way of living comfortably in a state of sobriety.
