Anti craving meds (oh I get it now)
This is a personal account and should not be viewed as medical advice.
So my doc prescribed campral a few months back and said it would reduce cravings. I wish she had properly explained how it works. I am now seeing an addictions specialist who explained what these anti craving drugs do. For me personally isn't to stop the mental craving because i don't crave alcohol ever unless I'm actively already drinking. It stops me from essentially wanting more and more. It stops that kind of reward system craving. If my original doc had explained that I might have better understood the recovery process and stuck to the meds but I didn't and I relapsed. Now using as directed and understanding what they do is making my success in recovery more strong than I've ever felt before.
Doing well here and so happy to be sober.
Work knows ! God that was embarrassing but honestly embarrassment is a lot easier to deal with than anxiety about being found out. I'm very lucky to be at a supportive company. They offered me time off but the structure of work helps keep me committed to my recovery. I think I'd drink my summer away if they gave me time off.
Anyways it's been a few weeks and this time feel remarkably different. I'm accountable now to my family and to work and that makes my resolve much stronger. I can't believe how attractive I feel again. Wow my face!!! It's back.
Anyway! Best advice - learn more about the meds you're prescribed and take as directed no matter what. Also tell people. Trust me it is the ONLY thing that made the difference between relapsing every few weeks and committing to recovery.
Good luck everyone xo

I'm pleased its working for you Water
One of my biggest regrets was giving up on the Campral the doctor gave me years ago, without giving it a chance to start working, well done for sticking with it
