Tired of it all
Like the thread states, Im tired of the drinking.
I drank heavily for a decent amount of time (5 or 6 years there about) in which I would drink at least a 6 pack most nights, and on weekends more.
Made stupid decision, but never got caught.
I am only drink a few times a week now, but Im done. I am sick of it. I wake up and feel like crap if I have more than one. Its just not worth it.
I really noticed how crappy I felt after I stopped drinking for a period of time and then started to drink every once in a while.
Even after a couple I wouldnt feel right the next day. Last night I had 3 beers and I am just done with it all. I dont get good sleep when I drink, I wake up with a dry throat, I have leg cramps...
Anyways just saying hi. Here is my day one.

Hey, 19. (Deliberate Steely Dan reference there, 70's music fans)
I am glad you are here with us. I felt the same when I came here 3 years ago. No major tragedies (yet). No DUI's. No firings from my job. But I could tell those things were coming. And my drinking was getting worse.
I found a lot of support and helpful advice from the good people here. I hope the same for you.
I hope you will post often and let us know how you are doing.
Welcome to the SR family.

When you drink periodically you suffer detox.
Constant drinking is always medicated.
This place educated me in a few days on what i was doing to myself being a drunk.
Quitting has not been easy. Nothing worthy is.
Alcohol is poison. Don't believe the hype.

Getting and staying sober is a decision I doubt you will regret. I would consider yourself lucky as many people don't simply get sick of it, but rather have to fight with all their might to stay sober. I fall into your camp, I got injured really bad which propelled me towards sobriety, but in all truthfulness, I was simply sick of it too and I knew my drinking habits were wrong and not normal.
I can honestly say I don't miss it at all because at the end it was no party, it was just killing time.
