I suspect that is a security thing to prevent non genuine messages. Keep posting here for now and you'll soon be able to PM I'm sure. It is really valuable at first to connect with others here I know that from my experience. Find as many threads as you can to join. The class of June 16 perhaps?

Welcome. Yes you have to get to 5 posts. That's to stop scammers.

Have you investigated your local AA and other support groups? I find that getting to meetings really helps, as well as reading and posting on here.
