96 Days Sober
Today is my 96th day alcohol free. I was going to wait until I hit day 100 to post, but I'm feeling some temptation so here I am. I'm still getting PAWS every now and then, but I'm sleeping much better. Urges come and go, but the urge to drink has been strong the last couple of days. Even to the point of having a VERY realistic dream last night in which I was drinking.
I was off work all this weekend and didn't have any plans. This would normally be a laid back drinking weekend. Buy a box of wine and binge watch some TV series. Or my favorite, drink and read a few books. I actually avoided watching tv and reading fiction when I first got sober because I didn't think I could enjoy them without alcohol.
I've also been feeling lonely and restless the last few days, which is probably contributing to the urge to drink.
But, I'm not going to drink. I didn't fight so hard these 96 days just to give in now. Im getting in shape, I'm learning a new trade, I'm changing into the type of man I want to be. Slowly. Sometimes excruciatingly slowly. But when drinking I'm going backwards. So today I'll rest, seek God, clean, read, exercise, and NOT drink.
One day at a time.
