Hi folks
Hi folks
Was on here before around a year ago- managed 29 days and came crashing down down . Some carnage and some time later I decided to come back. Have home detox assessment coming up to help me taper as last time I went cold turkey . It may help in long run . Here's hoping. Man this is emotional as I write. Hits you out the blue. Anyway I lost my previous log in details .hope you are all having a great day .
Thanks ! The appointment is 2 weeks away and my all or nothing mentality is haywire. I'll just be patient .I had mild withdrawal last time I think. Was still hard though especially the anxiety. But doc recommended this so I'll wait
hi Wolf I remember you were helpful before so Hi! I am going to cut out everything except beer that's what I was advised .im tempted to just do it myself again . In all honesty when doc said he'd refer me and I was to cut down slowly I was excited at prospect of drinking for a bit more . How awful is this affliction , the way the mind tricks you.

Are you eventually going to cut beer out as well?
The problem, at least for me, was that I could never taper or limit my drinks. Once I had one that was it! I would drink until I was puking blood at the end. I really needed to detox under the care of a physician. I was in the hospital for 5 days detoxing and then when I came out I went to 2 months of inpatient rehab. I joined AA and stick very close to the program because my mind still tells me I can have a drink sometimes!
If inpatient detox is not an option you CAN detox outpatient under the care of a physician. I believe they do still prescribe ativan to help with the withdrawal and anxiety and you check in 2x a day (I think) to get your vital signs taken. Do you want to get off this horrific rollercoaster of addiction? If you do, I suggest you put down ALL alcohol (including beer) and contact a physician for advice on inpatient or outpatient detox.
Do this right, and do the next right thing by finding a program of sobriety that works for you, stay away from that first sucker drink, and you'll never have to go through this again.
All the best to you!
Hi Kiddo so glad you are back.. woot woot ... beer and tea are a lot a like.. you can drink a ton of it and it keeps having to leave you fast hahhaha with tea there is no hang over..or bad gas. hahahahaha hugs and glad you are back.. prayers for the detox stuff.. ekekekekek
Think I know deep down I can taper off although it won't be pleasant . I'll have a serious think . It was the doc who suggested it out of safety I guess but I did it before . I'll still turn up to my assessment but I should be well on my way by then. I'm done with this stuff. And yes tea is the thing. I will stock up on all sorts of herbal infusions
Welcome back Azure. Sorry it is under these circumstances, but glad you have found your way back. If you got 29 days before, you know how to make it through the early days. You know what it takes and absolutely can do it again. Just remember, you never have to go through this again.
Stick close to SR, that helped me tremendously in the beginning and continues to help me now.
