Day 2 and away from it all
Day 2 and away from it all
Still dealing with some withdrawal symptoms but feeling much better today. it's amazing how quickly your body is ready to start healing even within the first few days of putting down the bottle. Or wine box, in my case. I am trying to get to a point where I can eventually come to terms with my constant relapses. I no longer want to be "dry" and resenting my attempts to stay clean, I want to be "sober" and proud/ happy with myself for making this change. I'm just not there yet. Any tips?
PS I'm in the mountains at the moment and the view is amazing. Very relaxing!

A good plan can really help you on the path to wanting to be sober as opposed to having to be cornpone?

Hey Cornpone! Great Job on Day 2! It's always good to stay active....Lately I've been working on crafts just to keep my hands busy....writing, drawing, anything creative can be fun...(now if only can get back into that "exercise" stuff!)
All of you folks are so great for your thoughtful responses. I feel so grateful to have found this online group. Every single experience I have had logging in has been positive, even during the weeks that I was returning to booze.
Tonight I ordered a copy of "Under the Influence". it has been recommended to me by several people here and also some of my coworkers. I know the book is older (published 1984) but from what I have looked up on it so far, seems to be one of the most comprehensive descriptions of alcoholism. If anyone else has some books they can send my way that would be awesome. Even if it's just self help and spoke to you in some way. This disease shows no mercy, and getting beyond my dependence on it is by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life.

Hi,
The book that made a big influence on my sobriety was, The easy way to control alcohol by Allen Carr. It showed me all the illusion I thought were real about alcohol and how to live life without it.
Good job on Day 2
