Im getting really bad head spins (dizziness ).....i could fall over if i lean to far forward...is this normal when withdrawing from alcohol.....iv had a ct scan and its clear....doc is not much help.......im starting to worry that iv done perm damage.....week 2
Hi d12345 - welcome
It wasn't uncommon for me to feel light headed for a few days - but seeing as you're in week two, you might want to get a second opinion from another Dr just to be sure?
If nothing else it might help put your mind at ease?

How many days sober? You said week 2, so I'm assuming at least day 8 now?
Generally, physical withdrawals shouldn't last that long. There's months of emotional / mental stuff to go through, but physical should generally be over in about a week. You may want to get a second opinion from another doctor.
EDIT: n/m, Dee beat me too it.

thanks
I was told by the doctor that the anxiety could be causing the dizziness.......iv been given tablets to help but they seem to make my head worse......i feel drunk.....iv decided not to take them.....im on day 9 sober.....i did the cut down approach first....iv seen people talk about brain fog....what is that????
For the first few weeks/months I felt not all there, a bit fuzzy if you like, but I also had light headed spells, which a Dr was able to put it down to swings in blood sugar and blood pressure.
So it's definitely worth getting a Dr opinion if worried about it or it persists!!

I think if you're given meds you should either take them or go back to the Dr and discuss why you don't want to take them.
Brain fog is pretty common - kinda like a confusion or like your brain has slowed down from what it used to be...it's a different thing to feeling light headed or giddy or at least it was for me.

I agree with going back to the Dr. Something to consider in addition is whether you are eating enough and getting a balanced level of nutrition. If your body is lacking in some of the essentials it can make you dizzy.
Consider that AND see the Dr though would be my advice.
