My progress ...
My progress ...
I've made great strides in such a short period of time; it is now hitting me & scaring me.
The neurologist I'm not to phased by because I honestly have no clue what to expect or why I'm even going.
But the shrink has me scared to death. For many reasons. One being the new found "freedom" I have w\ the small amount of Xanax being taken away. Another all of the buried demons I have being brought out. Then the chance that memories I've "lost" do to the coma would come to light; and the few that have come to light have all been good . well mostly all.
I have demons I am ashamed of, embarrassed of, & surely don't want to relive.
As for pain management, again been through it & have no faith in it. To be honest, I think I'd have a better chance w\ a witch doctor or ****** priestess.
But I'm all for this "recovery" thing so, let the good times roll !!!!!
My name is August West, and I love my Pearly Baker best more than my wine.
More than my wine - more than my maker, though he's no friend of mine.

Just remember that you can question any treatment.
You can also voice any fears you have.
Being honest and open is the best way to go.
You need to be on board with your treatment and if there is anything you are uneasy about, its best to say.
Maybe its worth thinking about what goals you want to achieve with treatment and then verbalising them to your doctors.
Sometimes we can give off the wrong messages or we can be misunderstood when we are anxious or scared about something.
I know when I am anxious I come off as aloof and not caring.
However, I have found that starting the conversation with 'this is causing me lots of worry and concern ...' can be really helpful.
I think its natural to fear about the xanax but if you don't say this, the doctor will be none the wiser.
The doctors cannot make decisions about you without you being involved.
I really do think you need to be in control of any decisions made.
Doing that is just making sure you receive the best possible care.
I wish you the best xx

Everyone on the planet is afraid of something. There is no such thing as eradicating fear. It is the human condition. The worst thing we can do with our fears is to hide them away, to systematically avoid that which we fear, or to drown our fears in alcohol and drugs. As many of us know, there is no such thing as courage without fear; courage is about taking action regardless of our fear.
You're also not going to like this, but you've short-circuited your progress before. Now that you've found the courage to take care of yourself, don't give it away for nothing. None of us has an unlimited number of opportunities to live our lives with purpose and meaning.

I do have 5 years in my past where I never abused or had any withdrawal symptoms to the pain meds on my side so that is a plus.
