It's Friday night

Ok so it's Friday night and the start of the weekend. And usually we would be having some beers and wine tonight! After promising Il not drink again! As I can't handle it!!! the pressure of Friday night is starting to creep up apron me! It's 1850 UK time. Iv been with the kids all day and am dien to zone out! Must be strong it's only been 6 days since I binged and promised not to drink again! I have been so depressed the last week over my actions feeling so low, broken empty emotionless. I need to kick this drinking business it leaves me depressed no energy guilty about not spending quality time with my kids! So why do I want a drink so much now!!!!! Desperate not to fall again xxx

You've got this! Go for a run or walk! You will feel better afterwards. Go step by step and imagine if you do drink. You will be right back here wishing that you had never done it. Pouring poison in your body always seems fun and looks fun. Imagine a bar full of people drinking and having a good time. Then imagine all these people the next morning. Eyes puffy, dehydrated, irritable, tired, can't remember half of their conversations, spent tons of money. You can wake up feeling great tomorrow if you just don't drink tonight. Do something fun and sober.

Hi FG, it passes this horrible skin crawling feeling. There's nothing good about drinking when you feel desperate for it.
Drinking now will just Stoke up that beast who wants you to binge ..

Try something else .. Eat something, distract yourself.

Friday nights come and go.

Take the kids to the movies or go do ice cream.

If you start up again it could be dangerous. Have you read about Kindling? You can Google it.

Hello Fallen...

Have you read the AA Big Book? You describe what I went thru for years, and the Big Book described it well for me, including what led to a complete change in my Life which I could never have imagined.

I also recommend listening to some good Recovery Speaker talks. Try doing a Web Search for
'Joe & Charlie'
and
'Melbourne Steps Weekend - Recordings'
... for starters ... all FREE.

If you can stayup til Midnight or so...there is a meeting in the Chat room scheduled for tonight. 8pm Central time I think would be 1am your time.

I know...late but.

Just think of how good you'll feel tomorrow morning if you don't drink tonight. Waking up feeling good is the reward I get first thing every day, for staying sober.

Hey we did our usual Friday night minus the alcohol! I'm still feeling quite low and and useless but I think that's because it's the beginning of the end. My kids were happy to see me drinking coke rather than beer! Thank you all for your words of wisdom! I will kick this! That was my first Friday night! Will also look up those books mentioned thank you.
Xxxx thank you xxxx

Congrats! You are through another mini-battle, and now that one is over, hopefully it is a situation that will be easier in the future!

Isn't it sad how little we noticed the effect on the children till after the fact? I was convinced my 8 year old never noticed, but this last few days he said he likes me more now, even though I am stealing his drinks! I am not sure he has completely made the connection to me not drinking beer, but he is certainly aware something changed.

Congrats on making the decision to not take that first drink, Fallengirl. Remember that as long as you don't take that first drink no matter what, you can't take that second or third or tenth drink that will almost inevitably follow for us alcoholics. Great job!

Congrats Fallen,
as i have heard the aussie's say - 'good on ya'

I struggled hard, and finally thru working the program and listening to good recovery speaker messages, 'the miracle' happened, and i am now free from the 'obsession & craving'
