New and not sure where to start
I'm new to this and not sure where to start. I've been married to my husband for 35 years. Alcohol and drugs were not a part of my childhood, nor my adult life and had not been a part of our marriage the first 21 years. 2 months ago I realized he had a drinking problem, before that it was prescription drugs. He did tell me he had had an addiction to prescription drug after a major surgery. It wasn't until 3 years ago that I discovered that. The last 2 years it been alcohol.
Welcome Esther! Sorry to hear about your situation.
There's a lot of great info on this site, so make sure you look around.
We also have a section for friends and family of alcoholics:
Friends and Family of Alcoholics - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
and another for friends and family of substance abusers:
Friends and Family of Substance Abusers - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information
You'll likely find some good stuff and people who have been through or who are going through the same as you

Hi and welcome.
Also A great resource in your area would be Al-Anon meetings foung by doing an internet search of your area meetings.
They are people who understand because they have been where you now are.
