Went to a party last night/drinking

I went to a party last night where alcohol was flowing freely. There were 3 bottles of wine per table, so one didn't have to walk to the bar for a drink.

I'll admit, I was tempted. Oh was I tempted! When the temptation crossed my mind, I quickly did an offset thought with remembering how bad I was. How alcohol jacked up my blood pressure, increased my anxiety, bloated me out, etc. And I ask myself: "do you really want to go back there again?". One little sip of wine could literally set me off and running, throwing away almost 5 months of sobriety.

When I got home, I thought to myself how great it was to be alcohol free. How great it was not to have "pre-drinks" before the party. Not saying stupid things or slurring my words with family and friends at the party. Going home and not feeling compelled to drink more, because the buzz wore off. Going to the gym early this morning, and NOT feeling dizzy or woozy from a alchy hangover.

I feel wonderful and liberated being alcohol free!

Bravo Sarah!!!!!!!!! Thankfully I don't have a problem with party's or weddings etc etc but obviously can imagine how hard it can be for others.. Great feeling waking up without a hangover or withdrawal!!!! Keep it up & congrats on your 5 months.

Thank you for sharing. I'm a newbie here but reading your story gives me hope that I can be sober and happy and finally free.

That's great. And isn't it fantastic to wake up positive and ready to take on the world? That will never get old
