A small victory
It's been a while since I last posted. I've been slipping up pretty frequently, fell into the same binge drinking pattern again. I experienced the deaths of two family members within two days of eachother almost a month ago, which set off a terrible binge cycle. But I think I have finally managed to pull myself through the darkness. For the first time since their deaths I have managed a completely sober weekend. I felt some cravings last night, but turned to a pint of Neapolitan ice cream and mindless games on my cell phone instead. I'm sitting here on the couch enjoying a nice cup of coffee and getting ready to read a book to my son. I would normally been too hungover to do anything else but sit him in front of the TV with a bowl of cereal. So thankful to have made it through the weekend. One day at a time.
So sorry for your losses...
Alcohol really just covers up grief and buries it down deep inside. Congrats on the sober weekend. Reach out to others when you need help -- whether that's here or in "real life"
Best wishes,
-Josh
