i am new!

Hi,
I am new here. I am dealing with an addiction/overuse of wine and anorexia with binge/purge subtype. I have just finished 3 months of intensive outpatient treatment to address both issues. I am now on naltrexone. I think it is helping, but I still feel the "need" to drink in the evenings.

Hi Rose,
After may failed attempts to stay on the wagon I went to see my Dr. He prescribed naltrexone and I've been taking it (50mg) daily for about two weeks now. My experience is that it helps a lot of my cravings, but its not a magic pill. You must have a support group and a strong desire to stay sober. It seems to be working for me. Minor side effect is very slight stomach cramps but not too bad and the longer I've been taking it the better it gets. Stay strong.

thank you. I know I need to keep on treatment and support...but it is nice to have some relief from the addiction (naltrexone.) I just hope it continues! dual diagnosis is difficult. the eating disorders and alcohol like to take turns...when one is going okay...the other takes over. no good.
