Struggling a bit

I have been tempted to drink. Depressed for various reasons. That is it

Hi AF. It's good you posted before you decided to drink. Anything you want to elaborate on? I'm bad about keeping things close to my chest but sometimes letting it out can be beneficial.

Thanks Copper - I am reluctant to discuss reasons here because I can't articulate in a forum all the whys and wherefores.

Hi AF, I'm sorry you're struggling, but you know that alcohol will make you feel worse. Is there anything you can do to help your mood at the moment?

Art-
One of the things that always helps me when I am in a funk is making a gratitude list. Please don't drink. It will only make you feel worse.

Whatever the problem is, drinking won't help. Perhaps you can discuss whatever it is with someone you trust...holding it all in won't help either.

Ah, I completely understand. I've followed your posts for a while and I know that you are strong and more than capable of shutting your AV down. You know drinking won't help solve anything. My thoughts are with you. I am also available through pm if you ever feel that may help you.

In general terms, I finally drove off my closest friend. She is not "gone" per se, but has reached a limit on how much I can lean on her. I get that. My problems need to be addressed by a professional (I was seeing a therapist but he moved to another state). Time to find another one... but I have trust issues and it takes a LONG time for me to feel comfortable enough to even discuss anything.

Building a relationship with a therapist takes some time too. I am in a "crack" if you get the meaning.

I did a list earlier today! I felt better for a bit and then I fell into the funk again. Thanks Strategery

I have been trying different things... to no avail. So I came out here. I know this is a support forum, but I feel badly asking for support! Go figure

I hope you can find another therapist that you can work with.

Please do cross off drinking as a viable treatment tool tho - it's dreadful for depression.

Yeah Dee...that is the thing. Alcohol seems to deaden you (not fix) so you don't feel anything. That sounds good at the moment.

Hi AF, Whatever it is, I know you can fight it. You are a very strong person and not trusting people I do understand how that is cause I am the same way!! However, I have been letting my walls down one by one each day though. You can do it too when ever you are ready!!

Hang in there--- (((((((AF)))))))

Smile

I sincerely hope you can NOT DRINK....I have had a terrible time today with wanting to drink, due to my inability to connect on a deep level with the people I care about the most

when I try I get scared and feel like I am suffocating

and when I don't try, I feel lonely and sad and isolated....

tough spot to be in and it makes me want to drink -- hit me hard today, but I ate some cookies, took a nap, came to SR for help, and have a couple of shows to watch for entertainment tonight....

we all know how hard it can be, but I hope you get through this without drinking

hugs, Trish
